Swarm Dynamics: Predator-Prey Interaction

Graduate coursework · January – May 2024

Developed Python simulations mimicking predator-prey interactions to find emergent behaviors in swarm systems. Swarming appears throughout the animal kingdom, from sheep herding to schools of fish.

My team investigated how predator-prey interactions affect swarm robotics behavior. Simulation allowed a controlled study of parameters that would be difficult to replicate in the real world.

A mathematical analysis of the results produced phase diagrams describing the emergent behaviors in discrete regions of the interaction space between multiple predators and prey — insight useful for multi-agent control.
